It renders in a browser and is cross-platform compliant. When you build NetHelp using Doc-To-Help, Doc-To-Help takes your content, does everything that it would normally do for you (create a table of contents, create an Index, catalog everything for Search), and also compiles all of the content and project elements into the NetHelp interface. One of the things we'll be covering in this post is how that interface helps your users find the information they're looking for

Advantages of a Web-based Format:

The biggest advantage of a Web-based format is that it's on the Web. While this may sound obvious, it doesn't discount the fact that putting your content online makes it easier to share and update.

All of ComponentOne's documentation is on one central repository on our knowledgebase. This gives all of our users one place to look if they have a question from the Help. NetHelp also creates unique links for each individual topic in the Help, so it's easier to send someone right where they want to go. (And, as we'll find out, there's a feature in NetHelp that makes it even easier).

Additionally, you can set up your Doc-To-Help project so that your content is published directly to the web server when you build. Once you have everything set up, there's no need to transfer files or configure anything, you just build in Doc-To-Help and your content is automatically updated online.

Most Useful Features in NetHelp:

There are other aspects of NetHelp that make it great, but these features highlight how easy to use and accessible the NetHelp format makes your content.

I used screen shots from the documentation hosted on our web server to show how ComponentOne is implementing and using everything discussed in this post.

Accessibility and Compliance:

When Doc-To-Help creates NetHelp for you, it creates it as XHTML content. This XHTML content conforms to the latest Web standards and is compatible with XML parsers. It will render in any browser without loss of functionality.

Doc-To-Help also gives you quick and easy ways to make your NetHelp content 508 compliant. This is a handy tool for anyone writing materials for the government, or anyone that needs to make their content accessible to users with disabilities.
affiliate program

Search for the Content You Need:

In addition to the Table of Contents and Index that Doc-To-Help builds for you, NetHelp has a Search tab that users can access to search for specific words contained in the entire project.

A list of relevant topics is displayed under the Search field. It is easy to get great pictures with kids, pets or plants at home with your digital camera, and share picture online is an efficient way to make extra money at home.In my older post Earn money by sharing photos online, I mentioned about Shareapic, a rewarding site to share picture online, which provides $0.22 per 1000 unique views of each photo.Using Shareapic, however, you may need some really great photos which attracts lots of views to earn a penny. If you are not a good photographer, you may be just wasting your time to promote your photos. Here I will introduce a good way to deal with your not-so-good photos.

Join now...

Visit here to know more!!

affiliate program

Earn 1 cent per photo in Mylot:

Mylot is a discussion forum which pays its members post articles there. Users don't think it's suspicious because, after all, the messages appear in their Facebook profile:

The users also wouldn't notice it afterwards, because after entering the information, they are redirected to Facebook.

This phishing site involved in the scam is blocked by now, but users are advised to pay extra attention when being asked for login credentials.

But, as it seems, that is not the end of security breaches on Facebook. Yesterday Rick Ferguson uncovered four more rogue applications - Your Photos, Birthday Invitations, Inbox (2) and Inbox (1). To avoid being a victim of this kind of attack, he recommends checking the URL in the browser' address bar, checking where the links points to (before clicking - just hover with your mouse pointer over it), and removing apps you won't be using anymore.

10 tips on ways to avoid identity theft at college:

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the country and the 18-24 year old age group of consumers is often hit hard by identity thieves. Each year, thousands of students go off to college and are unaware of the numerous threats to their identities that exist on campus.

Intersections, a provider identity risk management services, recommends the following tips for college students and their parents to proactively protect their identities:

1. When using campus computers and Wi-Fi hotspots, be aware that they aren’t always secure. Ensure you are using encryption (i.e. anti-key logging software, or password protection) to scramble communications over the network. It is best not to view personal information on open campus networks.

2. Keep your information secure by changing your passwords frequently. Keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware software up-to-date with the latest releases. And if you’re using your laptop around campus, always take it with you to ensure your hard drive isn’t compromised.

3. Credit offers abound on college campuses. Walk through a student union and you can stop and smell the free t-shirts, water bottles, and key chains that banks offer college students when they sign up for credit cards. While it’s a great idea to start building credit, read the offers – and the fine print carefully – and understand exactly what you’re signing up for.

4. Social networking sites are hot spots for most college students. Reveal as little as possible about yourself, especially family name, address, phone numbers, date of birth – identity thieves only need two or three pieces of this information to steal your identity.

5. Protect and memorize your Social Security number. Don’t carry your SSN card with you, and if your college uses Social Security numbers as student IDs, request they generate a random number instead. Most schools will do this when asked.

6. Invest in a good cross-cut shredder and properly dispose of all personal and financial materials. Be aware that information you receive contains personal information that, if stolen, could have serious ramifications. Credit card offers you receive in the mail should be shredded. Bank statements, tax documents – and other documents with personal information – should be securely stored until it is appropriate to shred. And never leave this information out in your dorm room or anywhere it could be compromised.

7. Online shopping is convenient, but be sure the sites you use are secure by looking for “https” in the URL. Check with sites’ privacy policies so you know what they may be doing with your personal information, or if they’ve attached cookies to your computer, enabling them to track your viewing and usage patterns.

8. Start the process of routinely reviewing your credit report. Under a new Federal law, you have the right to receive a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide credit reporting companies.

9. If you’re using peer-to-peer file sharing programs, be sure to configure the files securely so personal information is not accessible to others.

10. Be wary of telemarketing scams. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Never give your personal information to a caller.

19% of online attacks in 2009 targeted social networking sites:

Breach Security announced a steep rise in attacks against social networking sites, according to the Web Hacking Incidents Database (WHID) 2009 Bi-Annual Report.

Accounting for 19 percent of hacking incidents, social networking sites were the most targeted vertical market in the first half of 2009, with hackers exploiting Web 2.0 features such as user-generated content including Twitter posts to launch their attacks.

The WHID project compiles and analyzes application-related security incidents, focusing exclusively on publicly reported web application security attacks that have an identified outcome. The WHID 2009 Bi-Annual report analyzed global security incidents that occurred from January 1 through July 31, 2009, a 30 percent increase in overall web attacks compared to 1H 2008.

Key findings from the WHID 2009 Bi-Annual Report include:

Drivers for Web Hacking — Defacement, which combines both planting of malware and standard overt changes, remains the most common outcome of web attacks (28%), while leakage of sensitive information is a close second (26%, up from 19% in 2008). Disinformation is a distant third (19%), mostly due to the hacking of celebrity online identities.

Most Prevalent Attack Vectors — SQL Injection remains the number one attack vector, accounting for nearly one-fifth of all security breaches (19%). Attack vectors exploiting Web 2.0 features such as user-contributed content were also commonly employed: authentication abuse was the second most active attack vector (11%), and Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) rose to number five with 5% of the reported attacks.

Vertical Markets Under Attack — Social networking sites emerged as the most targeted vertical market with 19% of the incidents, a dramatic increase from prior years when this sector was not represented, and displacing government/law enforcement from the number one spot in 2008.

“The dramatic rise in attacks against social networking sites this year can primarily be attributed to attacks on popular new technologies like Twitter, where cross-site scripting and CSRF worms were unleashed,” said Ryan Barnett, director of application security research for Breach Security. “Looking back at 2008, a notable election year, government-related organizations were the top-ranked attack victims and have now dropped to number three. The WHID report demonstrates that hackers can be fickle, following popular culture and trends to achieve the most visible effect for their efforts, which means that companies must be vigilant in implementing web application systems and monitoring application activity.”

Hacker faces 20 years in prison for attack on U.S. retail and banking networks:

Albert Gonzales, 28, of Miami, was indicted today for conspiring to hack into computer networks supporting major American retail and financial organizations, and stealing data relating to more than 130 million credit and debit cards.

In a two-count indictment alleging conspiracy and conspiracy to engage in wire fraud, Gonzales, AKA "segvec," "soupnazi" and "j4guar17," is charged, along with two unnamed co-conspirators, with using an SQL injection attack, which seeks to exploit computer networks by finding a way around the network’s firewall to steal credit and debit card information. Among the corporate victims named in the indictment are Heartland Payment Systems, 7-Eleven and Hannaford Brothers Co.

The indictment, which details the largest alleged credit and debit card data breach ever charged in the United States, alleges that beginning in October 2006, Gonzales and his co-conspirators researched the credit and debit card systems used by their victims; devised an attack to penetrate their networks and steal credit and debit card data; and then sent that data to computer servers they operated in California, Illinois, Latvia, the Netherlands and Ukraine. The indictment also alleges Gonzales and his co-conspirators also used sophisticated hacker techniques to cover their tracks and to avoid detection by anti-virus software used by their victims.

If convicted, Gonzales faces up to 20 years in prison on the wire fraud conspiracy charge and an additional five years in prison on the conspiracy charge, as well as a fine of $250,000 for each charge.

Gonzales is currently in federal custody. In May 2008, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York charged Gonzales for his alleged role in the hacking of a computer network run by a national restaurant chain. Trial on those charges is scheduled to begin in Long Island, N.Y., in September 2009.

In August of 2008, the Justice Department announced an additional series of indictments against Gonzales and others for a number of retail hacks affecting eight major retailers and involving the theft of data related to 40 million credit cards. Those charges were filed in the District of Massachusetts. Gonzales is scheduled for trial on those charges in 2010.

The charges announced today relate to a different pattern of hacking activity that targeted different corporate victims and involved different co-conspirators.

A closer look at Elcomsoft Advanced Office Password Breaker 3 Enterprise Edition:

Elcomsoft Advanced Office Password Breaker breaks passwords and unlocks password-protected MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets instead of attacking and recovering complex passwords. The Enterprise edition comes with Thunder and Rainbow tables for unlocking the documents. It works by attacking the low-level 40-bit encryption key instead of attempting to guess variable-length alphanumerical passwords.By clicking on the Open button, you choose the document you want to unlock - a Word document in this case - and the process starts immediately:
As you may notice, the estimated time on just one processor is very long (going on days, even). You can use multiple processors and cores to speed up the process.
You can stop the process any time, and save the status file (.bsf) so you can restart from the place you stopped before by just starting the file.
Another way to speed up the process is by using a rainbow attack, i.e. pre-computed tables for documents. You can choose to do so in the option tab, and change other options, too.Starting it, you get the notification that the rainbow attack is in progress:

You can save the statistics for future reference, and you can finally decrypt the file and save it - file successfully decrypted:

The process is identical for Excel spreadsheets, the only difference being in the tables used.

Advanced Office Password Breaker is a handy tool that will make your life easier. It does not recover the original passwords, it just removes them. It's fast and effective, and a real asset in offices. It supports MS Office Word and Excel 97 and 2000 and supports Office 97/2000 compatible documents saved with MS Office XP and 2003.

ELECTRICITY PRICES QUERY I own a holiday home in Kent:

UK, which I actually live in while the site is open as it is cheaper however last year the electric prices were 7.5p a unit and now 18p a unit.
